In the July 4 Guitar Tricks newsletter we announce a partnership with www.sweetwater.com to sponsor a Gear Review Giveaway every month for the rest of 2008.
It works like this:
1. sweetwater.com sends us a new peice of gear for review.
2. We review it in the Guitar Tricks Newsletter.
3. We give it away to a newsletter reader.
4. Repeat every month.
Sounds like fun, huh?
So, first we have to tell them what gear we are most interested in reviewing. We want to make a list, and we need your input.
Tell us what gear you want us to review and we will give them a list of the most popular items. We can't guarantee your item will be reviewed, but we can ask.
The first item can be up to $1000, and we need to tell them by Monday so they can ship it.
The rest of the items can be up to $700.
They will get us whatever we want, but would like to avoid heavy items like big amps.
So, what would you like?
Jon

I would like some ZVex reviews. I have been fascinated as of late with their ring modulator pedal, the Ringtone. And the Fuzz Factory has been high on my "to get" list for ages. But I've never actually heard anyone's opinion on how they play.

Here's a product (or range of products) I have been looking at for a long time but never really find the time to go and check it out myself.
Here's the version I would most likely buy myself. So rather than reviewing the top of the line RC-50 that people may never actually buy (even though it would make a sweet prize), it would be nice to see what this one does:
Boss RC-20XL
http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/RC20XL/
Compact Phrase Recording and Sampling Pedal with Undo Function and 16 Min Recording Time Whether for use on-stage or at home, the Boss RC-20XL will add depth and excitement to your performances by allowing you to layer phrases in real time - as many stacks as you like - until you fill up the 16 minutes of ample recording space on the RC-20XL. Explore the expressive options of sound-on-sound...
Also this type of pedal comes up fairly often in the forums.. so may be a good place to start.

Line 6 Variax 600
This guitar has built-in effects and I always wondered if it was as good as using a guitar and a POD.

For the other months
Damage Control Solid Metal
I've always been interested by this distortion pedal. I've seen it used once live but would be interested in reading an in depth review of it.

I would like to see the Epiphone Les Paul Studio reviewed. I've been wanting a new guitar, not too expensive, but not too low-quality, and that guitar seems to meet criteria. The link to it is http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ENL1EBCH

I think that you should give away one new Gibson Guitar each month!! I know that the gibson guitar company would also contribute to the cause! To me this would be the most awsome Giveaway for being a member in Guitar Tricks! My Kind regards,Billy Layne Butte,Montana

I would like to se the Epiphone Les Paul Ultra II reviewed. It looks to be a great guitar with some cool features but I would like to see some one I trust review it (Know what I mean:)). I am thinking about getting it in the future, but would like to know if it is really worth while. If you could review it that would be great.
Thanks

I'd love to see a review of the TC-Helicon Harmony-G. It just came out and no one has done a review of it yet. A comparison to the Digitech Voice live 2 would be awsome.

I am interested in the Tech 21 SansAmp PSA-1.1
Programmable Guitar/Bass Amplifier and Cabinet Emulation Processor. Also the Manley Stereo Tube Direct, All-tube Instrument DI with 5-position High-pass Shelf EQ. I am also very curious as to the hardware versus software debate for tracking in computer based guitar recording. You guys are awesome!

There are only a hand full of things we instantaneously think of when we think of Rock & Roll and one of them is the great John Lennon.
Hope you guys could review this sometime - Epiphone EJ-160E John Lennon Electro Acoustic Guitar.
If Sweatwater ever increases the $1000 cap I would like to see the Gibson Acoustic John Lennon J-160E Peace reviewed.
Thank You

Love to see the new Saturator distortion peddle reviewed. I'm always iffy about distortion peddles but with Joe on board I'm interested.

I did not realized that the price limit was $1000, and I suggested an item that is above that limit.
So, I would like to suggest another item to be reviewed.
I browsed the sweetwater.com website an I found an Ibanez guitar that I would like to see a review of.
It’s the Ibanez RG1570CA listed at $799.99

I would really like to know how this handles and if the sound is decent enough to warrant using it as a main acoustic

Would like to see a review of the Epiphone Casino, as well as an opine comparison of it to other semi hollow bodies, including the Gibson ES-335. I am interested in acquiring one.

Hi Jon,
How about a side-by-side with some nice but reasonably priced acoustic guitars, like Taylor 110 or 210, Guild, GAD-40C or Martin DX1R?....something us folks currently paying college tuition for 2 kids  might still be able to afford!
BTW, I joined just a few months ago and the improvement I've made is great - I've followed lessons from many of the instructors and they are all fantastic!! Keep up the great work.

Awesomeness, yes, thanks to Jon, and/or to the person(s) who chose the Les Paul Studio, as I need to know whether or not it's worth buying. (It feels like I won something :D , even though I didn't... it's cool though, as I never win/get chosen for anything)
