Hi everybody, I'm new here, and I will be learning Bass Guitar! Yay!
I'm learning bass guitar mainly becauseI can sing and play at the same time, and too many people play regular guitar. Bassists aren't as comon. :D
My only other music expirience is playing the Clarinet, so no knowledge of string instruments at all. This should be fun.

How do you know you can play and sing at the same time if your only musical experience is with the clarinet?

Yes, a good bassist is hard to find.

Because while playing the clarinet, my mouth is being obstructed by a real nusiance, something known as a mouth piece. I'm pretty sure bass guitars don't have mouth pieces.
I'm not saying I'll be able to sing right away, but with practice I can sing and play at the same time. :)

Me myself are not a bassist but I respect all instruments and music no matter what it is. I think saying bass is easy is a stupid statment.... an understatment. I hear this alot being a big common stereo typical veiw on bass. I think great instrument to take up and learn and some of the best musicians were bassists, and yes bass can be easy, but you try play complicated bass like 'funk' for example, you wouldn't be saying that again. I feel bass really drives the band and you'll enjoy the instrument. So it's great your taking up and instrument and i hope you enjoy it and hey... maybe ill see you 'up there' one day.
Cheers, Jake

Learn how to do popping. That's the one thing I've never been able to master and it's a major drag cause I'd like to add it to songs occasionally.

Im not an expert but I think popping is when you pull up the string and sort of 'ping' it hard so it makes a popping noise. Give it ago or look on the internet if your struggling. Not one of my most technical posts but hey.

Yeah, it's popping the strings with your thumb and fingers.
The guy for Level 42 was a good example of somebody who could play really well doing that.
