Does anyone know of any software that can do, basically, what the Tascam GT1MkII can do? It can slow down music but not change the key so that selected pieces can be figured out/learned by playing them slow at first. It can also be set to repetively loop selected phrases and has several othe features but the slow down and looping are what I'm looking for.

I can get the Tascam for $80 (had it on sale yesterday for $50 but I didn't act fast enough).

Thanks,
Dave

I've heard that Audacity, which is free, can do that.. I've never tried Audacity though so I can't confirm it for you. I use Reaper (which is also free) for all my recording purposes now, there's a possibility that it or one of the many free plug-ins available could do it too.. but again, as I have never used it for that purpose I can't confirm it.

Audacity:

Yeah, Audacity is really cool. I use it to capture the audio on music videos I like on YouTube. Far's I know, you can use it to capture any audio being played on your computer. You need a plug-in to convert the wav file to mp3, but I use MusicMatch for that.

I just discovered I can capture the audio from the Jam Tracks sections of this site. Now, I can make extended loops of a jam track, burn it to a cd, and play in my living room where my stereo and guitar gear is. Way cool this FREE program!

Search for a program called Best Practice. It is free or if you like it you can donate. You select a song from a CD or that is on you PC. You can slow it down, speed it up or select a passage and just repeat it til you get it.
Search bestpractice moerland.
