chours/verse

im just looking for a little bit of idea on how to put things togethter.

just working form a basic blues progression (yes its 12 bar blues in A). A7 D7 A7 E7 D7 A7 E7 as a verse how would i contstruct a chours to go along with that. would i cnahnge to chords and move up or ar the last four changes good enough for a chours?

i can seem to write good chours or good verses but i cant seem to mate them together in the same song.

A simple blues chorus could be: After playing 2 or 3 verses: go to the IV chord for 2 measures then to the I chord for 2 measures, then back to the IV chord for 2 measures then to the V or V7#9 to turn it around back to a verse.

i meant more ingeneral. i know the "chorus" of 12 bb is the last 4 bars.

i guess what i meant to post was what kind of changes shoulkd a chours be? i know there are no set rules for anything.

madhouse by anthrax uses a simple answer to the question, the verse is chords and the prechours/chours is riff.

its a hard couple of questions to ask i guess. with out writing a whole song right here and now.

Guess I misunderstood you. I was thinking more traditional blues "B" sections.

I took a songwriting course from a guy named Jai Josefs. He has written some books on the topic, that you might find useful.

The important thing (according to Jai) is that the verse and chorus have contrasting elements (similar to what anthrax said).

So if the verse has long notes, the chorus might have short staccato notes. Or, if the vocals are all starting on the downbeat in the verse, start on an off beat in the chorus.

If you start to analyze songs with this idea in mind, you will find a lot of ways to make a contrast between the two, even if the underlying chords stay the same during both verse and chorus.
