is there an easy way to connect two amp speakers together in series without having to cut the 1/4" jacks off and wire them by hand? is there some sort of adapter that will do this? i just got a great deal on a power attenuator, and this is the only way to make it work...but i can't seem to find anything that exists for such a purpose.

it needs to have dual input plugs for each speaker jack, and a single output to plug into the power attenuator. and before anyone suggests it - i can't make one myself and don't know anyone local that can either. i've been calling around all day for this. :) i need to match the ohm ratings for the power attenuator.

it seems so simple, but is proving quite difficult...

thanks!

Hey.. I moved this over into Gear Discussion because people tend to read this forum and respond here more than in Tech Talk 2.. don't ask me why, they just do. :)

Hopefully someone like Lordathestrings will come along and know the answer to this question. It does sound like a simple thing but I don't know where this "Power Attenuator" thing you mentioned comes into play.. I would have thought a simple splitting DI box.. or a PA system would suffice..

thanks. :)

my new power attenuator is a now-discontinued Gibson Power Stealth (the same thing as a THD Hot Plate), and i got the 16 ohm model. my local gibson dealer was telling me i had to get a pair of 8 ohm Power Stealths to run my amp (a Gibson Super Goldtone - the 60 watt one), which of course wasn't what i wanted to hear as they're $300 each. my amp has a 16 ohm output jack, and the power attenuator connects between the amp and speakers. it looks like i can just unhook both speaker cords with the 1/4" jacks from the celestion speakers, and rewire them in series to connect to the Stealth.

i didn't know much about the technical/electrical side of my amp until doing all this research to get my Stealth to work with my amp. still seems like a simple adapter would do the trick to wire speaker cabs in series... so the question is still on the table... for those who managed to make it this far in the 2nd paragraph, lol.

thanks again...
