Hi Mr. Bob. I purchased an Ovation Celebrity earlier this year. I do like the guitar but there are a few things I am not all that crazy about.
Things I like:
Has a nice sound when all acoustic
Nice action (at least the one I found did)
Light
The tuning mechanisms are top-notch and it rarely goes out of tune
The on-board tuner is accurate
Things I am not crazy about:
Hard to hold (the rounded back makes it a pain to play while sitting)
When plugged in, you're really at the mercy of your amp. The sound can be somewhat "tinny" if you are just using the on-eq.
The volume control seems to go from whisper to scream with nothing really in the middle.
Like I said though, it really is a nice guitar. Over-all I am pleased with it.
Welcome to GT. There's a lot of information and great people here. Looking forward to seeing you around the boards. :)

I personally do not like the Ovation. I purchased one about 30 years ago and never really liked it. I often thought of selling it, but I had it so long I just can't bring myself to part with it. I haven't touched it like forever only to clean it and put new strings on it from time to time.
The reason I don't like it is because of the curved back. It's very hard to hang onto when sitting. It tends to turn outward from the bottom. Standing is hard too, because it stands out to far from my body. The fact that I have a stomach that stands out makes it even worse!
Anyway, that's my opinion.

I like the tone and body styles of the Ovation acoustics, although, the action on most of them is for some reason high. At least the ones I've played.
