Hello all. Yet another new forum member. Seems to be a busy place. I started teaching myself guitar 3 or 4 years ago and haven't picked up a guitar in quite some time. I own two and can't play either one. :(
I am hoping this is a place to learn and motivate as I haven't given up yet.

Thanks for the welcome. I tried taking lessons from a music student once and it didn't work out too well. I live in a rural area with an over abundance of instructors (sarcasm). Hopefully this online stuff will work out.

If I were you, I would go to the city nearest you and get some theory books to study, and get a songbook from a band you like. If you live close enough to that city (like a 10-30 minute drive) then do your best to get weekly lessons. there's nothing better than a good teacher to motivate you to get on track. Use this site often, there's alot of useful stuff. Remember, guitar playing is all about having fun.

Listen to him. There is no replacement for a good instructor. A good instructor will teach you theory and the mechanics of playing together. I knew people who would travel an hour each way for a good instructor. If you want it bad enough you will find a way.

Hi PlayerWannabe,

I've always lived in a small town and it's a main reason I am self taught. Not a lot of instructors here either.

I wish I had GT when I first started out. I spend so many years trying to figure out some stuff that were often very basic. We have a great community and I'm sure you'll find lessons that will motivate and make you wanna learn more.

Don't be shy and ask us questions as you go. We'll be there :)
