Hello
Anyone got any tips (chorus, flanger, etc.) for getting a thicker, more rock sound out of my guitar? I only use a distortion pedal, looking to expand my sound. Thanks.

You might try a detune effect.I'm no expert on effects, but basically,it takes your signal, duplicates it,changes the pitch and adds it back to the original.I believe it's meant to sound like two guitars-you know, just slightly out of tune with each other.(Anybody know more?)Peace

Unless you get an Eventide, pitch shifting WILL give you a slight, but noticable delay, wich will make you sound like crap basically.

If you want to create a thicker sound, try getting an EQ, and boost the low mids. Other thing you can try is a chorus, or a delay set to max. 30ms(more will make the delay noticable, below 30 it'll create a fuller sound).

Instead of distortion, a good bit of overdrive can thicken up the sound, making your guitar sound more like it's being played through a cranked amp. Flangers and phasers can also be pretty cool for different sounds, and Hendrix loved the Univibe.

I use an Ibanez tube screamer and a three-band eq with the bass boosted. Also a Dunlop crybaby for some sounds

My suggestion is to go to a local guitar store and sit down and try all their pedals! I could give you so many suggestions about what I like...but the ear that matters most here is yours! Go check out some pedals and see if you can find that sound. Try some Chorus, Flangers, Phasers, Delay, Wah...try em all. Okay, fine I'll make suggestions (ha ha)

I like Danelectro for their Cool Cat (Stereo Chorus) and their Dan Echo (highly functional delay).

I like Vox wah pedals (especially the V-847 with True Bypass)

Flangers and Phasers....I prefer Boss pedals in this area.

Again,

Have fun!!!
