They were pretty good... 'Appetite for Destruction' is consistently high in votes for 'Best Rock Album'.

Slash has 2 sides though - sometimes he's so good it'll make you sick.... sometimes he's so sloppy it'll make you sicker... :p

How can you learn guitar without classic rock?!?!?! Even classical guitarists probably started off with Smoke on the Water.

I like Slash's phrasing through most of his work, but mostly it seems he just sticks to Pentatonic Minor, which is cool, but gets a bit repetitive.

Of course, I don't consider my self a GNR guru by any means, so I could be wrong. =D

I love Guns N Roses, don't get me wrong...but honestly, I think they're a little overrated. People say that Slash is one of the greatest guitarists ever. He is good, but I think there are lots out there that are better than him or that were better than him. Axle Rose...face it. He's not the greatest singer in the world. I like their music and I'm a fan, but I guess I'm just kinda tired of people considering them one of the greatest bands EVER.

But doesn't their fan base prove that. Even if the music isn't complex or the singing isn't good, its about how many fans they accumulate over the years. You can't say the same thing for one hit wonder bands though.

I tend to enjoy listening to sloppy guitar players more than virtuoso's for some reason. Sloppiness works sometimes.

Oh definitely. I always enjoy listening to Jimi Hendrix, or Angus Young. At the same time, I think Jimi Hendrix is a little overrated. Still, he is a great musician and so is Slash.
