New Beginnings

Looking for some advice please:
I've played classical guitar for a couple of years.. My son wants to start electric guitar lessons (he already plays piano). I always wanted to play a few power cords, ala The Who, so I thought we could play/learn together.
I travel quite a bit which brought me to this site in the first place (nice site!) and I'm looking for gear advice. I've been looking at travel guitars (Traveler EG-1?) and am looking for some advice on them for myself and some advice for my 10 year old son.
I'd really appreciate any type of advice on these two gear questions.

Wow that traveler EG-1 is pretty cool. Never saw it before.

Concerning the guitar for your son I'd say look at some beginner's pack. They're not a greatest quality but normally comes with everything you need for a pretty good price. Epiphones makes some good startup packs. They call them value pack sometimes.

Why do I suggest such packs for kids? Honestly, kids tends to want to try out a lot of things. Which is great, that's how they find what they like and what they don't like in life but you can really dig deep into a wallet if you start getting each gear separately. If your son tries it and don't like it then the lost is not too much.

Travel Guitars are built for people who travel.. basically lighter, smaller bodies that are rugged and fits in the overhead compartment of a plane :)

Man, your son is 10 and already has piano experience. I'm jealous. :rolleyes: Although if (and when this is possible) my son's gonna have atleast 5 yrs of guitar experience by then. :D What a bummer it'd be if he wanted to pursue dancing. :eek:
