In the market for my first Electric.. suggestions?

Im looking to get my first electric after almost two years on the acoustic. Not sure why its taken me so long.

I have a buget of around $1000 AUD. Im not quite sure what brand and type I should be looking for.

Any suggestions would be great.

What kind of music do you enjoy listening to/playing?

at the moment i listen to a lot of John Mayer, Blues and some Indie or alternative style stuff, a little rock but nothing hard.

I just had a look at an Ibanez SA260 for $720 AUD or $612.00 US.

Any thoughts on this for a first timer electric player?

With that budget you have lots of options. Fender Highway One Strat, Jackson has a few in that range, and the Ibanez you mentioned is another good choice.

Ended up getting the Ibanez.

Didnt have a go last night as the guy didnt give me a lead.
