i just bought this pedal. it's sort of on loan from the guitar shop, they mdae me pay for it, but i can return it within a week.
anyways, i've been using it a bit, but it doesn't seem to do much. for a $180 CAD pedal, it is pretty limited.
is my impression of the pedal wrong? what should i do to increase the effectiveness of the delay pedal in my playing? is there something i'm missing about what makes a delay pedal so great?
thanks a lot for your help, it'll help me decide whether to keep it or not.

What kind of amp are you running it through? If you have a small amp, like I used to play through, it doesn't matter what you plug in 'cause it will still sound bad. It's like my guitar teacher used to say, "All you're doin' is polishing a piece of sh!t! It's never gonna get clean,". But if you're running through a decent or good amp it's probably a problem w/ the pedal.

i have a pretty small amp, i think 25W, it's a fender. but i just don't get the purpose of the delay pedal. how can i make it work for me and add new dimensions to my playing? what should i know about how to set it, what to do with it, and what i should expect?
thanks for the help.

I use delay for two things.
One:I use a little bit of delay for playing rythm, it sounds like your drifting through space when you close your eyes.
Two: Practice.
If you turn the pedal to the fastest delay time you can use it to build speed.
Just play faster an faster till you harmonize with the delay.

You could also do like Yngwie does (I'm sure he didn't invent this, but I know he uses this technique) and use the delay in stereo with a single repeat to create a very cool effect when playing slower single-note things.

i'm just concerned that i'm going to pay 180 bucks for a little metal box that just makes extra noises.
i bought a BOSS MT-2, for less than the delay, and i'm extremely satisfied. it is everything i wanted and more. if the delay pedal is more than just spitting out extra noises, then i'll keep it.
