My guitar instructor has suggested that it is time I start learning a complete song all the way through, and asked me to put together a list of possiblities. I have my list - many of which are probably way out of my range, but its a list. 8^)

Any suggestions? I tend to favor rock and roll guitar and metal, but I have lots of interests. Note that I only started playing at the end of April, so I'm still a bit green. :D

Some from my list:

Stray Cat Strut - Stray Cats
Revelations - Iron Maiden (rhythm only - the lead may be too much)
Running with the Devil - Van Halen
Bang a Gong - T Rex
Black Widow - Link Wray
My Generation - The Who
Shot Down in Flames - AC/DC

You can look into a bunch of metallica songs, and heres a big index of easy songs.

KirkD,

I'm not too sure if your into Mr. Big, but "To Be With You," is pretty simple and I know a lot of my newer students start with that song. It covers the basic techniques like: Strumming Chords, Sliding, Bending (during the solo) etc.

Either way if you want, just shoot me an e-mail at Kole@Kolemusician.com and I'd be happy to guide you through the process of learning whatever song you choose.

Peace.

Just mentioned in another post how I love "Brain Stew" by Green day.... It is very simple and sounds really cool... :)
