I think I remember reading about these when they first came out back in the late '90s...
If its built by Yamaha, its of exceptional quality (I have an R1 sportbike and its superb). And when I read about them, the pundits agreed their guitars were of the same quality. The humbuckers were good but they liked teh single-coil models better.

My most recent acquisition was a mid-1980s SA2100:

I love it! I wouldn't want to change a thing.
An SA500 won't have the same cosmetic detailing, but these guitars were made by people who cared, and that comes through clearly when you play one. Try it - you'll like it!

Thats the only problem i cant't try one they dont keep them in stock but it seems like a unmissable offer.
I assume the set up action neck bow etc should be pretty perfect since they are expensive guitars, how will it sound through light distortion or overdrive? agai i assume since it has humbuckers it should be pretty good.

AAHHH a Lucile copy. These are the Gibson Es-335 copy by Yamaha. I have no experience with the Yamaha but the 335 is a great guitar. Not a metal guitar if that is your intension but good for most anything else. A bit large body if this is an issue for you I don't know. If LATS has no complaints about the pickups or electronics I would say it's a keeper. Just My 2 Cents!
