i've been playin on a new ltd ec 400 at goldtop and its been a great guitar!!!! But in a local shop(the same shop i got the esp at) there is a schecter c-1 exotic star with leppard finish. i no this is a great guitar but do u think they'll trade for it and will it be good for me? i paid about the same amount for the ltd as they're askin 4 the schecter and my ltd has basically no sign of ever even bein played. so tell me wut u think!!!

If they're at the same price, I don't see why not. I see the Exotic Stars have Scheter p/u's in them. I reccomend swaping them out for some Semour and Duncans. I've never played the Exotic Stars, but if you like the playabilty of it more than your ESP, go for it.

Chances are, there is no way in hell they are going to take a straight up trade for anything. They won't give you what you paid for your guitar in trade value. The most you will probably be able to get out of them is probably 200 or so. It all depends on the owner/salesperson that you're dealing with. But most of the time if you want to buy a 400 dollar guitar and you have a 400 dollar guitar to trade... they're going to take your 400 dollar guitar... then make you pay 200 dollars for the new guitar... It's pretty similar to the value of cars. Unless you're buying a collectors item, the guitar instantly drops in value once it leaves the store.

Schecter is a seperately operated division of ESP so the quality of the guitars are very similar. I just can't imagine myself ever playing a leopard print guitar.......... haha.

Its not actually the leopard print your thinging of, its pretty much quilted top with a varying tan & black coloring:

i'm not that dumb i no wut the thing looks like i've seen it in person. plus i'm friends wit the owner and the guy i'd buy it from so that might help. plus they're a small business that basically just looks at websites like musiciansfriend.com and music123.com and they just chop some of the price off.

Sounds like you might have a chance of a good deal, but be prepared to fork out a few extra dollars just in case.

Good luck, that is a sweet looking guitar. I hope it plays/sounds as good as it looks.

Please pay attention to what section you are posting in. This was not a review of anything, so why would you put it in the Gear Review section?

dude, there is absolutely no way they'll give you a straight out trade...unless you are really good mates with the owner.

If you paid the same for your ltd as the Schecter is going for (nice looking Schecter by the way), then you can expect to have to throw in some cash

When trading in gear, you will usually only get 1/4 of what the guitar can resale at... 1/3 if you're lucky. So, for a $600 guitar, you might get $150-200 for it if you trade it in.

I've never known a shop that'd do a straight-up trade. Unless you brought in a rare/valuable instrument.
