I'm getting an Sg for my fifteenth birthday. I have an acoustic ibanez, but it really is not for me. a friend told me that an SG produces a good sound, but needs frequent tuning, is this true?

It depends what you buy. I've got a gibson SG, and it's sweet for tuning. My mate has an epiphone SG, and that''s fine too.... No idea what the [insert random cheapo brand name here] version might be like...

The only thing I have against SGs is that they're neck heavy, which I find a bit annoying... but they're nice guitars...

Try before you buy and it'll be fine....

My '62 was such a sad thing for tuning that I got rid of it after a month.

The neck joint was so weak, that tuning one string would change all of the others. With a trem, I might understand, but this was a hardtail! I was always worried about snapping the neck off of the body.

The new ones have more wood between the neck and the pickup, but I'll never own another SG.
