We are doing our first gig this Saturday. We are a family bluegrass band playing at a benifit show. We are the first band up ( 6 bands total). I 'm scared to death. I guess thats normal. We've been playin together and at some jam sessions, but never up on stage.
Wish us luck.

a family bluegrass band? dude, that sounds fun. I bet that'll be a fun show.

the band Im in has two gigs this weekend.
but I donno, Im not really nervous about it in the least, even though I know we'll get shown up big time in both gigs. especially the second.

It could be because im playing keys in this band, which isnt extremely hard and if you mess up its easier to fix than with guitar, IMO. oh well.

Like, does anyone else here just not get nervous?

I haven't really been nervous since our first show, which I was pukingly nervous for. All our shows since then have been met with kind of a general dread and a feeling that it'll all work out even if we don't practice.

Just a little interesting tidbit: I'm kinda in a family bluegrass band myself. We haven't practiced in ages, what with the Greasy Knots and all, but every now and then my dad and my brother and my dad's friend and I get together. And yes, it is fun.

I think nerves gradually go away, but if you lose that feeling you get in your stomach before playing then there's something wrong.

Good luck for the gig 40ft. :)

Good luck man... it's natural to feel nervous.

I haven't felt nervous about anything like that since I was in middle school. With me playing sports constantly I was always performing in front of crowds so it was never a big deal to me... I just never have gotten nervous since then... To me nerves are a natural thing for anyone... But like people have said. They go away after time. Obviously, I'd be lying if I said that I NEVER get nervous... There are obviously certain shows that I do get nervous for but they're few and far between.

yeah, thats a good point, aschleman.

when you're in front of crowds alot, you get used to it. it becomes fun.
