View Full Version : Bands you like, but not enough to buy their records!

So I heard that song "Soul To Squeeze" by The RHCP the other day, and I forgot how good this song really is. It has that simple, yet catchy guitar intro, and the slide guitar parts are very soothing. Every now and then (as a guitar player) I hear something on the radio, or perhaps in a gas station, and I just get the urge to play it on guitar.
I'm not really a huge fan on The Red Hot Chili Peppers, however, there are a bunch of 'sellective' songs from their vault that are always fun to play on guitar. I never really urged myself to purchase of of their fullalbums, just a few singes here and there but these guys definitely have the magic. And they write music for the right reasons.
After watching their behind the music special, you really tend to look at these guys from a whole new perspective. They really have passion, and they're not just a bunch of monkeys with socks on their unmentionables, (always looking for atention.) They play music for the love of it, and that should be a great example for a lot of young people today.
So are you like me, :)? Are there certain bands that you really like, but not enough to buy one of their whole records? And are you like me, :) do you like to sleep under the stars?

I would probably put Tool into this category. Some of their songs rock, but most are intolerable.
I think their "new" song Schism has to be one of the coolest sounding things, but can any one tell me if the rest of the album is any good? Schism is the only one they ever play on the radio.
Heh, stuff like this is what Audiogalaxy and Morpheous are for . . .
. . . not that I would condone such a thing. :)
And as for sleeping under the stars, well, I prefer a roof over my head.

ac/dc...when they play them on the radio I crank them up, but I don't think I would listen to them around the house. Some bands make for good driving music !!
too many mosquitos around for sleeping outside, and with that west nile virus thing....no way.

Lots of bands... I think it's a matter of getting to the record store with $20-$40 I can spend... Something always makes it a little higher up on the list than say, Pearl Jam.
And if Schism is the song I'm thinking of, it reminds me of "Crowded Elevator" by Incubus: similar bass hook.
Led Zeppelin

Creed. I downloaded a clip of "Are You Ready?" and thought it was really cool, but theres loads of other bands whose albums are a higher priority, and as i get them, more wqill appear above creed. thats the way some bands are...

I dug their song,"How you remind me" the very first time I heard it on radio. Then I came across a site that had clips of all the songs in the how you remind me album,"Silver side up",but I didn't like the other songs.

By the way, which song is it where he keeps saying "the only way to fix it is to flush it all away"? I've heard it on the radio a bunch of times but never knew what the song was called.
