View Full Version : Xbox 360 - KaBOOM!
the three magical red lights have descended...
Called Microsoft who (rather too cheerfully) informed me I was a month over the warranty... so.... £85 to Microsoft to fix a problem that has existed since launch. Slightly depressed that they didn't do the right thing and repair it anyway, but that was never really going to happen...
Once it's repaired, it's going on ebay... PS3 time...

I've had that happen to me before when my power goes out and come back on. I just restart it and everything is fine. I just exchanged my 360 a few days ago cause it had a hard time reading disks and the tray often got stuck. Since I had the stores warranty, they just gave me a new system no questions asked or no papers to fill out. On top of that I have another 3 months left on the MS warranty. I plan on renewing my warranty as I did with my old Xbox cause you nver know whats gonna happen. Sorry you have to pay the 85 bucks, it sucks when you have to pay for stuff like that when its completly out of your reach to fix or even cause the problem.

I've got a wii. Its pretty sweet. But between the 360 and PS3 I think the 360 is better.

Right now it 360 looks to be better.... been out longer, more games, established online systom. Mark my words "ps3 has alot more under the hood". Give it about a year and I honestly dont think they will be close. Once the developers realy start using what the machine can do.

I have a business account at CompUSA through my work and I end up spending about $3K a month there on average. I have NEVER purchased extended warranty on anything in the 5 years I've been doing business there. When I bought my 360, my sales guy told me that he wouldn't sell me the xbox without the extended warranty. He said that 60% of the 360s that go out the door, come back in the door within the first 120 days. I've had mine now for about 5 months, so I feel pretty lucky.

Agreed.
I'm contemplating a 360 though for other things.

I had a ton of fun playing that at my little cousins over Christmas. My other cousin got both of the guitar heroes for PS2. Those games are fun!
Here's a pic of me jammin!

If you want some great online multiplayer action, 360 is the way to go man. GOW and COD 3 are awsome online.

Yea it does look fun. Look at this kid go. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yEjyuw42YY
Elklander: Yeah that's pretty much what I want it for. I may wait a year or so to see if the Wii gets any good online FPS's but I don't think so. I love the way the controls work on the wii for FPS's but the game quality hasn't been great.

My cousin also got the Wii and Guitar Hero II. Guitar Hero is very addictive. I got fairly good at it given the amount of time I played it for. But I was up all hours of the night.
I beat Psycho Billy on hard, but expert is a ways down the road. That kid is crazy.

Yea, I'd give it some time, you never know whats waitin round the corner to come out. Can you talk to other people over Wii online (or whatever the dubbed it?)

Yeah you can get friend codes and messege eachother and when the online games come out you'll be able to find them, much like gamertags i suppose. I also got a browser on the wii as well as news and weather.

That'd be prety sweet if Xbox Live had the current weather on the "dashboard" (the main page where you can acess all online things.) That sucks not being able to communicate via headset though, thats half the fun.

Not sooooo new the gamecube could go online but there was little interst in it. The DS has been great online. I enjoy getting destroyed by the Japanese at Mario Kart.

Haha, I tried playing whatever the new Tony Hawk is online with my friend's DS. It's not as much fun on dial-up (I hope).
After playing the Wii in store, I don't think they've made the games more fun with their "innovation". More frustrating, perhaps. It was like playing a GameCube, but with more anger and cursing on my part. I think the GameCube will be the last system I buy, especially with the way prices for games and stuff are. For that kind of money they could at least make them fun. No, actually, the LEAST they could do is have the games go to work for you and make your breakfast.

Oh, didn't know that. Is the DS wireless like the PSP, or do you need to hardwire it?

Some schools around our area have been promoting that Dance Dance Revolution game in physical education classes..... I played it once and it didn't give me too much of a workout... But for kids that are already overweight it does offer something fun to do to get some exercise....

It's wireless. The server and the connect are actually really fast and really reliable. No dropouts and zero lag. That I've seen. I've had problems with the PSP in that respect and now that collects dust.
