The title says it all.
I wouldn't have realized, but they're playing the Groundhog Day movie with Bill Murray over and over again on Comedy Central.

Groundhog Day is probably my favourite of all the non-holidays.
I've seen that movie a couple of times.......has some funny parts.

Apparently there are a lot of ground hogs.

I have often thought that the groundhog was just a figurehead for a government conspiracy. I belive that the national weather service is in cahoots with the utility companies trying to squeeze the living daylights out of our wallets and the cute, little, loveable groundhog is only there as a distraction that will lead us to belive that spring is just around the corner.
Then again, I have a lot of time on my hands right now and maybe I'm thinking to deep again.

Groundhog Day is a great movie. I enjoy it muchly.
However, something always confused me about the Groundhog Day tradition. If the woodchuck comes outa the hole, sees his shadow, then supposively (I tried to spell that word like 30 times and I couldn't figure out the correct spelling) 6 more weeks of winter are amongst us. But in order to have a shadow you must have sunshine. Sun=heat. So these idiots are basing this day on the assumption that the sun means a high pressure situation is in the area and that its cold and clear.
Y'know, too many assumptions are in this holiday for me. Sons of bitches...

wel to me the ground hog is a last resort for canadian especially, since yes, even us "canadians" can stand only so much cold!! well the ground hog isn't giving us a good sign out here in alberta..ack its about -23 up here and is supposed to get worse....and yeah i really enjoyed that movie, My family watches it every year, but after seeing it enough times to almost have it memorized, it gets old fast. lol....happy ground hogs day people

Well there might be a lot of imitators, but the original is right here in Western PA. The Mighty Punxatawny Phil. And if Phil said that spring is right around the corner, then it's right around the corner.
I will not argue with a groundhog. I might get outwitted and I don't think my self-esteem could take that.

Yeah hunter, arguing with a groundhog is like a guy arm wrestling a girl. If he wins, its expected, if he loses, he faces certain death....well maybe not death. But I think we get the picture here.
