Rating threads

I'd probably seen it but never paid attention till just now. I actually had to look in the FAQ to see what it's for. I guess the principle is sound, but I can't say I remember seeing any stars on threads. I've been served the same general purpose by the views and replies numbers. But does anyone use this feature?
