Right, well my friend has a Fender Strat that he says cost £1000+ originally but I'm not sure how truthful that is and I have got the chance to buy it. Think is, I want to know what it is and it's real value before purchasing.
All I know about it is that it is Fender (not Squire), it is red, says Made In Japan and has a khaler tremelo on it with locking nuts. It also has an all maple neck with white dot inlays.
Any ideas?

if you give us a serial number we can tell you quite a lot about it.
I think his price is very high.
keep an eye on this auction

I think this is an early nineties model (at the earliest !!)
hmmmm... how much does he want for it? What is the pickup config?

Sorry, but I don't like the look of all of them in the auctions. I generally don't like strats, but this one is a beauty.
He wants £200 for it, thats it.
I may be able to get the serial number tonight, but it is hard because it isn't mine yet
Oh, and I'm sure the pup config is S/S/S if I remember correctly
I'm no strat expert, but Japanese strats are decent from all accounts, and £200 seems reasonable in the UK... If it really is a beauty, for £200 you'll be very happy I'd say as long as it plays nice...
Aschleman might well know about Jap strats... he's a fender man...

The only Strat I've ever loved was Jap-Strat '62 RI.
For that price, if its in decent shape, its a good buy.
The electronics (the pups'n'pots) will not be as good as the USA stuff, but the rest of the guitar will actually be better build quality. And the electronics are easy to upgrade later. Much later; the stock parts are good - just not the best they could be.

200 is a steal, even if it needs a little tune up !!
As long as the neck and neck housing are ok Id go for it !

It is brilliant codition from what I can tell. He is only selling so cheap because he isn't a guitar expert and doesn't know it's value
