I don't know where I should put this question, so I'll just stick it here for now.
Does anyone know what size allen key is needed to adjust the truss rod in an American Telecaster?
Its not for me, its for my dad. The guitar didn't come in its original case, so it was missing some of its equiptment.

I don't have my tool box handy... and most of my stuff is at the studio... but the truss rod bolt should be the same size as any other Fender product... unless we're talking about a heel key.... in that case you just need a flat head screw driver.

Moved your thread to the Tech Talk section.
Can't you just try a couple sizes to figure out which fits right?

She might not have a set and plans to buy a single one.
You don't have to get a high end Craftsman super model, you can probably even pick up a metric and standard set at the dollar store.

The Warmoth top adjust tele neck uses 4mm or 5/32"
I presume they're doing that to Fender specs, but they may not be.
I don't think sets of Allen keys are expensive...or you could take the neck/guitar to the hardware shop & find out what fits.
Good Luck.

Thanks for the advice guys, I will pass on the info. He normally would bring his guitars to the music store to get them adjusted, but they charge a phenominal amount of money just to turn a nut. So he's starting to do his own maintenance.
lifeis@song - its such a small adjustment, it's easy to do yourself, but its also easy to **** it up!
In case anyone still wants to know, the truss rod on my US tele takes a 5/32... :D
