Well! Let me tell you at great length!

The turkey eggs are collected by gangly high school boys who hate their job. They are scraped clean (with a fairly dull knife) of dried poo and the straw stuck to the dried poo. They are then fed through an egg-washing machine on little egg trays which hold 20 eggs (4x5). You have to make sure to align the trays so that the side with four eggs goes in the machine first. If the side with five eggs goes in, the machine will jam and crush all your eggs!

Once washed, the eggs are put onto long racks and placed in the cooling room. They are rotated between this room and the heating room until the appropriate warm/cool ratio has been met. The eggs are collected in a big egg truck and taken to a hatchery, where they are (obviously) hatched. Once the chicks reach a certain age, they are brought back to the 'growery,' where eggs are collected from them and the cycle repeats.

Ah, five months of hell paid off after all. :)

And a Merry Christmas to you all as well!

And for those of you who celebrate it, Happy Thanksgiving! And by way of a holiday tradition, allow me to offer you this phrase (that simply rankles me to no end...) "Don't eat too much turkey!" which is usually said in some sort weird, high-pitched sing-songy way by an over-weight aunt in an orange Thanksgiving sweater with a HUGE turkey applique stitched on the front.

Yes. Holiday traditions always make me a little misty...sniff..sniff... :)

All I want to know is who will be 'Captain Kwanzaa' this year. My Jewish neighbor already has his 'Hanukkah Harry' costume ready, and some asshat has emailed the local paper's backtalk section to say he's gonna swipe the baby Jesus out of the church creche.
