Hey all,
I'm a huge fan of Mark Morton and Willie Adler of Lamb of God. Awesome riffs and songwriting. I really recommend checking them out for those who aren't familiar.
I started this thread for anyone who wants to contribute stuff about heavier bands, guitarists, etc.

Lamb of God are a good band, they write great lyrics and have some excellent riffs. I don't like their new album as much as I liked Ashes of the Wake, but it has its moments. "Redneck" is an awesome song, I like the way it contrasts a simple structure with highly technical riffing.
Damaged, I can see why you don't like the vocals in extreme metal! Personally I find there are some "screamers" who I can listen to and enjoy, and others (like Anders Friden from In Flames) who are just grating.

I'd have to say that Lamb of God's vocals are fairly easy understandable. He's not screaming like As I lay Dying, I classify more like yelling. There are a few metal bands that have singers instead of screamers, some are great, but some really should have screaming vocals instead.
But yea, they are awsome. I saw them back in June with Bodom and Slayer, they're so awsome live. Morton and Alder have done lesson columns in Guitar World and recently have done 2 video lessons, one of which was how to play Redneck.

I love the guy from In Flames, at least the earlier albums, not so sure about there new stuff.
Yeah I love Lamb of God's music its just, there's rarely guitar solos! I can still respect them on a technical level because they can shred and there actually riffs get pretty complex in there rhythms, I just want some ubber shredding or something you know?
Oh by the way, anyone else a Children of Bodom fan? Alexi on there latest album has become quite the guitar player, he's really getting good at mimicing the Vai sound.

Willy and Mark are two of my favourite players, love the technic, the tone, composing, great band, and J.C. Campbell is a great bass player (you'll notice him if he wasn't there).
The thing I like the most of them is the education they all have, even Randal (the vocal) has lessons to sing that way... go and check

thats his teacher, she gives classes over screaming, pretty intresting stuff.
I wish there where more bands like Lamb, inteligent non posse music with tons of attitude, but in the end I have to agree with jiujitsu_jesus, I like more Ashes of the wake than Sacrament, although Redneck sounded so much like Pantera that I just love it from the first 5 seconds of the song.
You all should check out Rich Ward, aka The Duke. He's in 3 bands, Stuck Mojo, Fozzy, and his side project, The Duke......

JFRICK, I never, and reapeat, never pass some on the things you guys recomend to check, and I'm not saying that The Duke is bad... it's just that... well is kind of Creed-ish, (a bit Tremonti sometimes a bit Wylde... not bad I wish I could play like that) but it's kind of out the Lamb of God league don't you think?
Anyway it's good playing but as a fan of LOG it's bit... different... OK, OK it's to soft.

Yeah, it's nothing like Lamb Of God..and Rich's style is a lot like Wylde's.....
I don't agree with it being "Creed-ish".
Just pointing out a riff master........

Agreed, actually has some pretty cool heavy rythm stuff that I liked. I think I heard something else on.... Fozzy I think... it's different, kind of like it a bit more, and I apologize, I had my head somewhere else when I said tremonti... sound like creed on vocals... not guitarwise.
Anyway Jfrick thanks, for the reference.

Yeeeeep... pretty gateeemmm heavy man... thick record to bite.
I don't dig so much on Ministry cause, it's pretty intense... ALL THE TIME, I guess they are a bit to straightforward, but it;s a cool record, I have it on my ipod.

Intense describes it, for sure. I agree, the old man lets loose on his political passions and holds no punches throwing it out there. All in all, it has some great chops.
