Ok...I'm relatively new to the guitar & broke my first string (Actually, it was the 6th string). One of my kids was messing around with my guitar & got it way out of tune & I just cranked & cranked & cranked trying to get my tuner to tell me I was hitting the right note and, let just say I should have been wearing safety glasses!
So, any recomendations on the type of strings to buy?

I use Martin Bluegrass SP's phosphor bronze. These are a mediun guage string for the best sound on an acoustic, except for the two little strings. They are light guage for bendability. These string have a great tone. It seems like they just ring forever. A little more expensive than the rest, but worth it.

I like Martin SP strings, in Medium. There are several different colored boxes of them. I don't know why exactly but I prefer either blue, red, or green Martin SP's

Different strings sound better with different guitars... But you can't go wrong with either the Martin SP's or the Elixer Nanowebs. Martins tend to work better on warmer sounding guitars. The Elixers tend to brighten up the tone of an acoustic or accentuate the brightness of an already clear tone guitar. Try those brands and see what sounds and feels best to you.
