I'm wondering if I could get any help on a few things. I am actually a bass player, I play guitar as well. I am playing in a punk band in the moment (Atari, Bodyjar, Jebediah influenced). I need to know how to get the best tone. What pedals should I use ect. And does anyone know how to do the slide, scratch thing that you always hear in the punk songs? Any help would be great. Please don't be harsh cause im a bass player ;) Thanks guys...

Gain up
Master down
Volume up
Bass up
this is for classic punk, the 70s type
for more modern sound add a little reverb and even out the master and volume

Remember that a true punk tone is not a scooped sound (max bass and treble, no mids), but rather less bass and more midrange. Dialing the proper amount of mids is the key.

Scrape the side of the pick along the bass strings. Moving down the neck.

yeah if you listen to old Sex Pistols songs, like Anarchy in the UK, the guitar is all midrange with some heavy overdrive/light distortion that gives it a bit more high at the end of the notes, and the bass is more of a "rolling" sound than a "thump" if you follow.
just by virtue of the way a standard speaker works, midranges take longer to disperse than bass; again, that's part of the reason that bass just kind of "thumps" when compared to midrange, which can hang in longer. a lot of it i suppose is also just general acoustic physics but i'm too damn tired right now to think of things like this.
