Help with artificial harmonics

hey guys ive been playing for about a year now and i am starting to get very good. i have learned many different techniques and haev mastered many. I can tap bend adn i can play a couple of experienced solos. however i am having an inconsiderably hard time learning arificial harmonics. does your guitazr make a difference in the tone--is it your amp -- how exectly do you do it --- Comment back

If you click >Search > Advanced search (http://www.guitartricks.com/forum/search.php?)< just above this thread, you can enter harmonics as a key word and find a lot of info.

Yes, your gear makes some difference, but technique is the biggest factor.

alot of people that have been playing for only a year still play their squire, carlo reboli etc...

If your playing a guitar with single coils, especially a squire strat, stacked humbuckers (humbucker that will fit in a single space) will help bring out the pinch harmonics, the stock pickups arent great on fenders or other beginner guitars...

It's all technique! Just experiment until you find the sweet spot! You can do it with an acoustic guitar without pickups too! But a good amount of distorsion really amplifies the harmonic though!

And there are several spots on every string where you can create pinch harmonics, and they form a dominant 9 arpeggio from the note you are fretting!

like they all said, humbuckers and tons of gain work well. It also can depend on what your guitar is tuned to. If you tune to D or C, your harmonics will have a lower end to them, but if your in standard, you can get more of a squeal out of your harmonics. Its all about pick placement and how you hit the string.
