I'm thinking of getting one of these Classical electrics next year:

Does this design have any advantages/disadvantages over the standard classical design?

I'm pretty sure it's only for asthetics, and doesn't have a noticable effect on the tone or projection of the sound.

django played guitars with the different shaped holes....selmer maccaferri guitars. i think there are more affordable models made. and yes, the holes do make a different in terms of tone and projection.
my friend wants to get the maccaferri with the small hole for better projection on solos.

I know the soundhole has an effect on the tone and projection. I was refering to the difference in the guitars on that page. The oval and the round holes on those guitars, shouldn't make a big noticable difference. However, I have been known to be wrong on more than one occasion  :D :o

that's true....but sometimes aesthetic is a difference that the owner can "hear."
and i've been known to be wrong many times so whatever to the whole thing!! haha.
it doesn't make too much difference but if someone digs the look, that could be enough to make them sound better...

Good point. For some reason, a visually pleasing guitar always sounds just a little bit better than it actually does. lol

not to mention people tend to play better and play more with guitars they find visually appealing.
