Hi folks. Just signed up today and it's my first post. Hope you can help me.

I'm going to buy either a Traynor YCV80 or a YCV80Q in the next few days. Which one, though? They look pretty similar in features. The 80 is a 2x12 speaker load (Celestion 70/80's). The 80Q is packed with 4x10's (Celestion Tube 10's). What are the avantages of going with the 2x12's or the 4x10's?

They will have different tonal characteristics. I don't have enough experience with 4x10's to compare the two though. It would definitely be best if you could go try out both amps to see which one best suits your needs.

ps... Welcome to the forum!

i like 4x10's better myself...i have a fender bassman loaded with 4x10's and it sounds great. i've had a 2x12 amp before but that was a solid state affair so i dunno if i could really compare the two.

I think a lot will depend on the style you're playing. 12" speakers tend to have a bit more bottom end than 10" speakers, and 10" speakers tend to have a bit more punch to them than 12" speakers. It really all boils down to personal taste.
