Okay... I need some opinions.

iPod Nano 4GB

Zen Neeon II 4GB

Which is the better product?

At the moment I'm leaning toward the Zen because of its line-in recording and not needing to bother with all the itunes crap.

When buying mp3 players, I have a policy: "Anything but an iPod". The bloody things are more trouble than they're worth, IMO. Besides, Zen models are pretty cool.

i voted ipod nano becos i use an ipod shuffle..which sucks way more compared to an ipod nano..its been useful to me..well not really..but it gets the job done..easy to use as well..if u are leaned to zen then get it..ive never seen it before tho..true what ben said abt ipods..i think they are over rated and overpriced...meh i got my shuffle cheap...no complains so far

Dude , you need to go creative.

I have a zen micro and love it to pieces.

It's so much better. It has radio, recorder, removable disk for storing files, and better sound. It's also build more solidly instead of like a buisness card like the nanos.

Im also against ipod, cause it's to pop. I hate how you have to have an ipod or you suck!

GO with the zen, i promise youl love it!

I can honestly say I couldn't care less wether people think I suck or not. I have a 40 GB ipod and a 60 GB ipod video.

I have never had any trouble with either.

If you are prepared to be a little creative and spend 5 min surfing the web you can work around just about any problems associated with "anti-file sharing features".

Ipods are great, but my policy is if there's a competing item that can do everything the ipod can, then get it. After that warranty is over, Apple's customer support couldn't care less what happens to your ipod, plus ipods are over-priced for their features. if it wasn't for the patent-protected click wheel and apple's outstanding advertisements, ipods wouldn't be at the top of the mp3 player market.

plus, lately there has been a rivalry between zen and ipod, and if you can get over all the hype of owning an ipod, zen wins.

I say get a PSP and a larger memory card then you're good to go.

Your right on about the price, but i think you're wrong about the customer service.
My buddy bought a used one on ebay with no warranty or anything and a year later it broke. A year later he took it to the apple store to get fixed and they replaced it free, no questions asked.

My brother got a Zen one, and it seems to work just fine, so that's what I voted for. That and I think ipods are stupid. Case closed.

Check out the line from iRiver... they're the best in mu opinion...

But I have a Sony Ericcson w600i cell phone... which has a 512mb built in Sony mp3 Walkman... it satisfies me.

I have a 20gb Creative Zen touch...it does everything I need, and its really easy to use,and to load tracks onto...I would go with the Zen purely because it is less expensive and of comparable quality...I also find the battery life on my Zen far exceeds that of a cpmparable Ipod

Soo uh.. on the topic of Mp3 players, have you guys heard of microsoft's zune? i've been tracking this thing since this summer and i'm really excited about it. I don't want to give too much details but i can tell you its wireless and the screen's huge.

the zune is supposed to arrive for xmas 2006...

try this (http://www.zunescene.com/)

I'm an ipod man myself, and don't really like how Microsoft have to muscle in on every conceivable market, but you know, if it's any good I might buy one.

I'll wait until they've been about for a while though...

I recently purchased an Insignia from Best Buy (It's their in-house line) for about $100. Tiny thing; it holds 500 or so tunes and has an FM receiver as well. PERFECT for running and working out. Thicker, of course, than a business card but smaller in over-all size.

Thought about getting an I-POD but quite frankly, I just couldn't justify the price for the need. Plus, the I-POD has as reputation for not being that sturdy.

Just a thought.

today microsoft announced it will be available to buy on november 14, and it will be $250 (because ipod's new player is coming this fall for $250). you can preorder it today.

i'm thinking of getting it when it comes out because if i don't get it then, i'd have to wait till after christmas. if i wait till the day after thanksgiving, it will be sold out. i'll wait to see what ipod has to offer because i hear its gonna be a touchscreen.

Hmm the Zune's a little out of my price range. The price of the Zen will probably go down when they come out though so that'd be a good time to get it

Based on my experience of pre-ording Microsoft products, I wouldn't bother. I would strongly recommend waiting until both offerings have hit the market and been there for as couple of months so you start seeing user reviews etc. Also, assuming they screw up the launch as usual, you won't get one on launch day anyway....

The new apple player is supposed to be touchscreen as you say, and the screen is supposedly going to be the size of the unit. Apple have more experience in this field, whereas Microsoft have a habit of crushing the competition.

I'd wait until you've seen both in action, but hey.... it's your dough....
