I've been addicted to Hitman: Blood Money lately. And Civ 3 (Civ 4 doesn't work on my ancient computer)... perpetually.

The Avernum series by Spiderweb Software - inexpensive, 3/4 view, old school adventure games that are staggeringly large is overwhelmingly addictive as well.

Similar to tristan, age of empires 2 is addictive.. i can't play anything newer than that on this.

I love Civ 3. I play online sometimes. That is one game that is hard to turn off. Age of Empires looked pretty sweet as well but I haven't tried it yet.
