I've never had a cutaway guitar and trying to decide between the 55RCE Cordoba or the new Koa Cutaway. The Koa looks nice and it's different looking from the other models and not as expensive as the RCE. Just looking for good sound and the right price. Which would you choose?

Ahh, Koa is pretty pretty. Now be wary, acoustics arent "normally" played in the those registers, and Ive noticed that some companies cheap out for those who dont play up there, but Im sure you've played it and are happy with it. With a cut away, you are able to reach those frets easier, though you sacrifice volume/tone, since your making the sound chamber smaller. An acoustic axe w/out a cut away gets both of them back, though if it's electric also, then that doesnt really matter. Agressive players, like Don Ross, dont seem to mind the missing cut away, well to me at least. Its all a matter of opinion, and opinions vary.

That's a good point about the acoustics. I did play it but unplugged - and the sales guy was more interested in the slim body Cordoba. Maybe I should be wary about going with just looks....

Yeah, right now Im into the Godin ACS SA slim two voice, though I just bought a Parker PM 20 PRO, so my funds are a tad slim after that though. Got some sweet discounts on it though...

Though I do prefer the looks of a cut away a lot more...

Maybe I should look into an Alvarez and get a cutaway at a decent price? I hear good things about that guitar line.
