We just got a PA system and its warranty expirred in 1988. We plugged it into one of the cabs it came with and stuck the volume on 3 because that was plenty loud enough for vocals. Then the amp just stopped working while we were fooling with the Equalizer. We felt the back and it was really hot. now its wont get power. I really need any advice you can give me!!
Thanks

I'm no amp tech but did you check the fuse. I know it seems obvious but I have seen this over looked before. You may have blown the input transformer or it might have a circuit breaker that will reset after it cools down. For better help maybe post what type of amplifier/PA it is and if it's solid state or tube...

Serious advice, don't go messing around with electrical gear unless you really know what you're doing (sounds like you don't! :p )
I have had similar problems with amps and poweramps over the years, nothing was ever too expensive to get repaired. Go to the local guitar shop and ask for a list of guys who do amp repairs. Most shops don't do repairs because of the size of the stock, poor return and hassles involved so they refer on to single operators. I found a licenced repairman who did me a great deal and I've used him ever since - he has literally saved me thousands in replacing gear that the shops wouldnt touch.

Yeah, Those transformers store electric power that can be released and KILL you. See a Pro.

Transformers do not store any power. I think you're thinking of capacitors.
Anyhoo, generally good advice. If you don't know what you're doing, fiddling about in the back of an amp can get you killed.
