I believe one of the best methods of keeping your guitar healthy is....Keeping it in it's case while you are not using it.
Its hard to actually decipher what your trying to ask in this post, but if your pickups have rust on them...I would look into getting new pickups.
I have no clue what material your bridge is so I can't recommend any chemical to help clean it, but a dry soft rag always works wonders.
As for the paint, I have no clue, its up to you.

do you have a squire? cuz every now and then, someone will get a REALLY cheap one.
but just a rule of thumb... if theres rust, something isnt right. theres probably too much humidity in your room, making the pup oxidize. not good, man.

well, florida's very humid and there's no rust on my strat.

it depends on your room, and how much you play/baby your guitars. virginia gets pretty humid year round, but my mom keeps the humidity in the house low with a dehumidifier. also, it depends on how cheap your pups are.
if they are cheap, they probably are more suseptible to problems. for strat pups especially, if water gets under the plastic part, it would be very easy to rust out all the coils inside, etc.

As for the paint, I have no clue, its up to you.I totally agree on the case thing, Rust on pickups just sand off with a very fine grit black paper like a 900 or higher (1200) and smear a very lite coat of vasiline that should keep rust away reapply as needed. On the bridge an old tooth brush works great.
