Ok, here we go. If this is answered somewhere else, I'm sorry but I couldn't find it.
I have an American made Strat. I want a Tele, but financially, that is not going to happen for a while. So, to get more twang from my Strat, I am believing a bridge pickup change may be in order.
Is it as simple as refitting my strat with a tele pickup or is that an over simplification? Any advice would be appreciated.

I believe the tele bridge pick-up has some sort of earth to the bridge so no its not a straight forward pick-up swap, if you want a 'tele twang' you need to change one of the pots for a push/pull type and modify your wiring so you can connect the neck and bridge pick-ups, you can probably find this mod on the guitar nuts site, hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply strat-man. I checked out GuitarNuts.com and there is one bunch of info there, almost too much. From everything I've read over there, they really don't speak to running a Tele PU on a strat. If I do put the tele PU on my strat and I do get it wired correctly, will my strat begin to sound more like a Tele? Or is there more to the Tele sound than just a pickup?
Thanks again and if anyone else has been here before please speak up.

That sound that you get from telecaster ,that biting twang and smooth sound, isn't just from the pickups. Try playing a tele unplugged in a quite room and then do the same with a strat. It's much different.

i was experimentin it with my H-S-S strat...
u know, removed n filled the mid pickup, n rewired the bridge-neck pickups...
im not sure but, it was like phase out parallel or smthin...

Red, I'm not sure I followed you. What you mean by " it was like phase out parallel or smthin..."?

Thanks man!
means wiring pickups like "- neck + +brigde-"
not sure about serial or parallel, but itll be both more quaky n treble...
still far away from signature tele twang...
u know its not depends on the twang factor, theres some natural distortion in tele bridge pickups... also vintage tele bridges helps the tone...
