hmm, I never have bought one, but they are fun to play with. the thing is, they really kill your tone. at least the one that I used did.

you get what you pay for. the cheaper it is, the worse it sounds.

I have an old Samson rig that I don't use any more. Getting free from cables is a great feeling, but this particular piece of gear had a cost in terms of added noise and lost tone. This is old stuff though - try a new rig and see what you think.

Going wireless is definetly a great feeling, but you really do get what you pay for in terms of wireless stuff. Pedals, amps, and even guitars you can go cheap and get something decent. Wireless you are going to need to spend some bread. Go with a good brand name. I would check out what "shure" has to offer.

I've tried a lot of them, cheap and expensive, and they all rob your tone. They compress the sound or something, hard to explain. Tone looses a lot of the warmth.....

I'd suggest sticking with cables.

Wireless is pretty much nothing-doing when it comes to bass guitar.

A lot of live bands, BIG bands, use wireless rigs on stage, and they still sound amazing. If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for us.

I agree with Acapella, there must be some decent units out there...but you can be sure they'll be the most expensive ones...stick with Shure, or Nady or one of the big names...just incase...faulty wireless systems have ruined more than one gig.

Usually, on stage your not too concerned about your tone. People are not only there to listen at a concert. The are their for a show. No one is gonna criticize one's tone on concert cause all the exhilariation and exitement makes up for it. But in the studio, most likely, people will not go over 12 ft cables.

It's all opinion, if you want a wireless unit, then get one...

Me too. I tend to piss off soundmen b/c I'll be tweaking the eq, gain, etc. on my amp during a show. That's what they get for showing up late and not giving us a decent soundcheck.
