View Full Version : Subscribing to Guitar Tricks
I want to subscribe.
$5 is nothing compared to the lessons here.
BUT I cannot subscribe by credit card, and I'm under 18.
are there any other ways to subscribe?

jeez man.... go to the bank and ask for a $5.00 money order in U.S. funds.
Send it to Jon at Guitar Tricks and you'll have access for a full month.
If you like what you see, sign up for another month. Even better, get a money order for 6 months worth.
If you want to try before you buy, sign up for the monthly newsletter or click on the instructor pages.
I know I'm biased but it's a hell of a better deal than paying for a friggin $40 teacher once a week.

You can sign up by check, the instructions are here:
http://www.guitartricks.com/upgrade.php
Minimum check signup is $30 for six months. If you don't have a checking account, you can go to a drug store or bank and get a money order.
Please don't send $5 checks. It takes too much time to process a check (endorse, record, deposit, repeat) to make that a workable way to handle subscriptions.
thanks!

Jon's the main man so that would be cannot on the $5. $30 USD minimum it seems. I'm sure Jon would accept a money order from a person of any age it's not like learning guitar is only for adults.

Whatever you do, don't buy the money order from a bank. They charge enormous fees, like 2-3 bucks sometimes. Just go to a convenience store or grocery/drug store...something like that. I wouldn't pay more than $0.75 for one.

Get a senior citizen to get one for you. They get em free.

Just to clarify this btw:
According to Jon, the site owner, the minimum sign-up price is a 6 month subscription for people wanting to pay by check or money order. $30
Mainly having to do with the costs and hassles involved in processing.
in a week or 2 im gonna send a money order. thanks for all your help ^^. hope money orders dont take 12 weeks.
do i just send a money order for $30 or do i have to say what its for? what do i put on it?

It's basically identical to a cheque except it has the amount stamped on it.
There'll be a place that says 'Pay to the order of'... so just put Guitar Tricks.
If you want you can write a note on the front or back saying 'for 6 month subscription'. Make sure your contact info is on it and your username.
There's two copies...one to send and one to keep as a receipt.

We use paypal for that. Most web businesses that accept payments accept paypal, so sign up for that and you are all set. The U.S. has really bad wire transfer/electronic banking. The last time I inquired about it, there was a $25 fee to collect the $30.

I've created an account, but as I said earlier, I don't have access to a credit card, and it keeps asking for a credit card :(

For my paypal account, I can attach it to a bank account instead of a credit card. Paypal gives me the option to use either or both.
I briefly looked at the paypal help pages to see if European accounts are able to use a bank account, and it seems they are. Please check again to see if you have that option.

after that I can check if I can transfer further on for an upgrade ;)

It worked, but..
when I select the feature 'upgrade' and then select Paypal payment method it asks me to log in and then select a creditcard.
I can send money though, through the following methode:
Recipient's email:
Amount:
Currency:
Category of Purchase:
Email subject(optional):
Note(optional):
I can't find any other payment method, so can you please tell me how to do it through this strange feature?
Thanks in advance,
Roel

Their interface is funny, but the option to get funds from your account is there.
I just pretended to sign up so I could see what the problem is. It looks like you need to click "more funding options" under Source of Funds on the page AFTER you sign in to paypal.

maybe your interface is different because I couldn't find anything concerning "more funding options" or Source of Funds
However, I did found this somewhere in Profile:
Billing agreements for Preapproved Payments are created when you authorize a merchant to bill your PayPal account. Because this occurs in an automated fashion, we want to ensure that only the funding sources you choose are used. You may de-select any methods that you do not want to use from the list below.
Available Funding Sources:
You have no funding sources available.
PayPal will always use the balance in your account first.
Note: PayPal does not yet accept bank account transfers for Preapproved Payments in your country. We regret any inconvenience this may cause and are working to add this functionality in the future.
guess I'm stuck, cause I already got a primary bankaccount linked to paypal :(

Search the words "Flash Media Player" on google. vIt's a free download and when you have it installed. You'll be able to play the vids.
Nevermind here's the link. :)
