View Full Version : I feel guilty, oh so guilty

It has come to my attention that I am ranked #1 in rep points. When I first realized this, I was like "Whoa! Cool!" Now, however, I feel very guilty.
I realize that rep points don't really count for anything, and yet I still feel I need to apologize to the helpful folks on GT. Lordathestrings, Dr Simon, and Jolly McJollyson have long been the list-toppers. They got to the top by helping folks out with their guitar-related troubles. I got to the top by making a few people laugh now and then. Surely this is not right.
I just feel it misleading for my little green rep square to say "earthman buck is a wealth of guitar knowledge," when I am clearly not. There are undoubtedly some folks ranked in the low 200s who know infinitely more about guitars and music than me.
So anyhow, LatS, Doc Si, Jolly, everyone else who is even remotely helpful, I'm sorry. You all deserve it more than me.
Alright, now let the rep points fly!

nah, I got rep points for posting sarcastic things, mostly.

I didn't even know rep points were that big of a deal. I certainly don't care about them. Maybe I'm just out of the loop though.

I think I still know just a thing or two about the guitar... but what's it matter? Anyone that thinks that someone's a good guitarist based on their rep points is asking to be made fun of.
Edit: I just checked my rep point thing with this post and I'm apparantly a wealth of guitar knowledge... when did that happen?

lol I didn't even know what rep points were until I checked this thread. It seems I have 17 points.

Eh, the rep points dont really show who knows the most, but who makes people laugh the most/ people like the most. I'm tryin to let the points fly but I always have to spread em around.

Hey hey... I'm in the top ten.
*everything goes all film noir-y. Me n' you are both dressed up like private eyes in the 40's, what with the trenchcoats and cool hats and all*
*slaps you*
*backhands you*
Dammit, man, get a hold of yourself! First you're in the top ten, and everything is workin' out great! You got a job, a family, a little house in the suburbs.....every now and then you save up enough for a little getaway with the wife....things are peachy keen. Rep keeps on a-growin', before you know it, you're head to head with the big man himself! Next thing you know, you hit #1, and the only way to go is down! YOU CAN'T WIN IN THE SHADOW OF THE BIG MAN!!!
*grasps Cryptic by the shoulders and shakes him violently*
All #1 gives you is shame! All #1 gives you is shame! Shame.......shame.....
*collapses to ground, sobbing*

Don't feel guilty, Earthman! If you're number one in rep points, it's clearly for a reason. Don't think of it as a suggestion that you're somehow seen as separate from or above the rest of us; think of it as an indication that you're a pleasant person who has enriched our little community here at GT. My congratulations to you :) .

AND THEN THE DRAGON COMES>>>>>>NNAAAAAAAIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was number one in rep points, but once mine points reached 2000, they start again at zero. I've been through this cycle 9 times. It's depressing.

I say we all bump Earthman's rep points just to see what the next tag is after "xxx is a wealth of guitar knowledge".
If someone already knows, don't ruin it for me. :(

I've been in and out of top five as of late. Highest I got was three. I got repped mostly for long posts of deep philosophical knowledge. I guess that's a good thing but the thing I think I deserve the most rep for (The GT Solo Assignment Monthly Jam a thon) I have only been repped twice for. What a wacky world. Oh I am a wealth of guitar knowledge, someday I want to assend to the Status of GT Legend (If it exist, if it don't it should).

Other forums are all about the rep points. It's not uncommon to have like 20 green things in your first week.
That's why I love GT. It's so much more than just a rep-pool.

Everybody but Akira does. Somebody tried to rep me on a bass thread, but I guess they didn't click "I approve", because I got a square neither green nor red. That made me sad. Apparently I "know my ****" though. :D
