hello all, i havent posted on this board before so i hope this is the right place :-/

anyways i have a Hagstrom I aka Kent... it used to belong to my uncle and since i started playing about 2 years ago off and on its kinda mine now ;)

anyways, i'm not looking at selling this anytime soon as its got the best neck i've ever felt on a guitar. but i am curious, i do have to rewire it and get a new pot and switches, they were notoriously bad and would die out. it also still has the original bridge which we're commonly swapped out or broken. the pickups are original and everything is stock except for a minor "paintjob" that my uncle gave it. the faceplate (if you know about hags it is just a plexiglass face) has been repainted with a "nice" metallic green and purple paint... dont ask me why i have no idea...

anyways... i'm looking to make some repairs, i've seen other similar hags (minus the paint job) go for upwards of $500, i was wondering how much the paintjob would effect the price, and also how much new pickups, pot, and jack would cost me...

any help would be appreciated.

Best advice is to call a local repair shop. They can give you realistic prices. Pots and jacks are relatively cheap...no more than 5-8 bucks or so, pickups range widely in price. Then tack labor price on top of that unless you no how to use a soldering iron and have wiring experience. As far as paint jobs go...I would leave it alone unless you know specifically of a local shop that actually paints guitars. For instance...don't take it to Maacco! Good luck.

oh i'm not gonna repaint it, i dunno i kinda like it :)

the other thing i forgot to mention....

if you dont know hag's you'll think it weird, but the back of the guitar is covered by vynl reason being the body is basically plywood and thats kinda hard to finish up and make pretty... so they went the cheap way, problem is the vynl on mine is starting to crack, especially around the edges :-/
