That's pretty cool. I love GNR! That being said. I watched Axel try to make a comeback about a year ago or so. I think it was on MTV. He couldn't sing to save his arse! It was like watching a train wreck. So horrible, yet I just couldn't look away. :(

I could give a rats ass about the Nu-G'N'R! You know why? BECAUSE IT'S NOT GUN'S 'N' EFFIN' ROSES!!!!! Axl was only one part of G'N'R. Slash, Duff, and Izzy are who really made G'N'R, if you ask me. Would you still call Van Halen, Van Halen if everybody had left and Dave tried to keep it going with an all new line up and call it Van Halen? Ofcourse you wouldn't! It would be no different than calling Velvet Revolver STP.

I heard that while G n' R was recording (the Use Your Illusion ones, I think), Axl refused to participate unless the other band members signed over the name Guns N' Roses to him. The other guys were just like "Yeah...sure.....now let's keep playing, alright?"

The new cd is suppose to sound like queen somewhat ... to be honest i just as much not buy it for all the b-crap axls been doing. GNR for a long time was the reason i started guitar, hell, my dog is named axl, but after the **** hes been doing like cancelling shows, and taking his sweet time...i coiuldnt care less... His attitude changes with the wind..i feel bad for st. louis!

I think you've got it backwards, buddy old boy. Velvet Revolver is G n' R with Scott Weiland.

Ok, I've just got to say that the direction of this one is just going no where. STP with Slash vs. Guns n' Roses with Scott Weiland? How far is that one going to go? All I know is Buckethead is cool.

Buckethead officially left in early 2004. They're currently without a lead guitarist. I wonder if Buckethead recorded some of the tracks on the mythical album that will become "Chinese Democracy". Also, I can't remember the last time there was this much hype about an album. I knew about Chinese Democracy in the 90's....

Velvet Revolver is NOT STP, nor are they G'N'R. That wasn't the point. The point was, Nu G'N'R only has 1/5 of the real G'N'R, while Velvet Revolver has 3/5 of the real G'N'R. I hate to say it, but there will never be another G'N'R. End of story!

Ok... so I checked out some a couple of the leaked songs from Chinese Democracy. And I have to say, they are, ah, not good. The ones I heard (The Blues, T.W.A.T., and I.R.S.) were a long way from the industrial sludge Axl was cranking out a couple years ago, but I can't say they've improved.
They're all kindof heavily layered guitar and piano with a backing that sounds like a drum machine. Gone are the guitar driven riffs and bursts of frenzied verses that made GNR good to begin with. They've been replaced with continuous (and for the most part incomprehensible) droneing from Axl and constant noise for music. At least Axls voice sounds better than he did at the MTV awards, although I think his screeching days are gone for good.
Of those 3 songs, I liked I.R.S. the best, since it at least has a remotely singable chorus. I've heard from people who liked The Blues and I'm not in a great position to judge, since the version I have is fairly low quality, but it's very ballady and un-GNR like. T.W.A.T. (or There was a Time) sortof sounds like a lower quality Estranged (not that Estranged was all that great to begin with) without Slash's melody lines. Robin Frink or whatever the new guy's name is simply can't hold a candle to Slash's playing.
The biggest problem is that Axl simply doesn't seem to have any energy left. There's no driving guitar or hard rockers in the bunch. There'll probably be some attempt at a few harder songs on the actual album, but from what I've heard Axl's content to sit back and write meandering, sappy, artsy pieces that simply aren't GNR. I'm hoping the final album will be decent just as much as the rest of you, but I don't see it happening.

The hype has reached ungodly proportions. Because of it, I'm willing to bet a lot of money it'll suck nut.

What's all this? A new G'n'R' album? That sounds like it would suck. Some washed up former Top 40 star trying to milk his "legacy" for every penny isn't my idea of a worthy purchase.

Oh, c'mon, Estranged was a pretensious epic with godawful lyrics and an expensive music video. It's a decent song and it's pretty complex, but it's nothing special.
