Your the first person since Ive been here to actually know who Don McLean is. This guy is my musical idol. So many great songs gone unnoticed.

True, so very true. Although I'm sure others here will know his songs...perhaps not realise who it was that did it, but I think most would recognise his stuff. Especially "American Pie" now that Madonna did a cover! Speaking of covers, ever hear Chet Atkins' version of "Vincent" - good guitar playing to say the least.

I don't want to upset anyone but Hendrix is the best solo singer/songwriter/performer of all time. No ifs, buts, or maybes. He is.

I hate to burst your bubble...
Outside of the guitar community (us!), who actually listens to Hendrix? I've found that the majority of non-guitarists, can't really relate to Hendrix. They can, however, listen very easily to Dylan, Simon, MacClean...There is indeed if's, but's and maybes.

I've just re-read what I wrote...
I didn't mean to come out that much of an ignorant eejit...Just thought I'd appologise if there's any feeling of insult - none intended!
Sorry, didn't quite come out the way I wanted...just in case that blows up.

There was never any intent to insult you, Barreta_jetstream1. If any was taken, I'm sorry, but I've already appologised before this got out of hand.
Again, there was nothing intended with what I said, it merely came out in a way that I realised (eventually) could be taken as a patranising way.
I suggest we forget this as it's insignificant and un-needed. Back to the issue at hand!!!

I agree with Willdridge in that Hendrix is outside guitar circles not many listen to Hendrix. I mean to us when we hear Hendrix we sit up and listen but to anyone else Hendrix is just another musician. Its just like if this was a rap or hiphop or whatever board itd be the same situation with 2pac or Eminem or whoever. Same goes for classical music or jazz or anything else.

Sorry everyone, especial Willdridge. no offence, i just feel strongly on the subject and many of my non-guitarist friends also worship Hendrix. But i suppose it was me who introduced them to him so u may be right.

There's never right or wrong opinions, just a view. I think yourself and I got off on the wrong footing. I hope I honestly didn't offend you in anyway. Again, I think we put this behind us and start a new? I respect your opinion and that's why I appologised long before many other would have. Again, don't appologise for your take on things, I think we all (myself especially), as you say, words are dealy. Think before you engaging mouth!!!!
