What would get your vote as the worst type of guitar ever made?
The worst ever type I've ever played are the Washburn BT's. I hate them with a passion. They don't sound good clean, distorted, wah'ed, compressed, nothing. Pickups muddier than the bottom of the Mississippi, poor action, no ability to stay in tune, nothing. And just to see if it's just me, I've tried evey one I can possibly get my hands on (I've played about fifteen now) and NOTHING. Plus they cost like $230, why not just buy a used Epi or Fender.

Well different indstruments suit different people for different reasons. Ive always always stuck with Fender, in my never ending battle to find the perfect instrumrent, and I think I'm pretty close. But Ive come across a few duds here and there, for inexpensive models I really like the Peavey Raptor, I love it's tonal flexability. It's wide ranged and distinct. Squires just plain suck and the Aria and Hammer doesn't seem to have the quality the Raptor has.
But then again, our tastes change, when I first came across the new Martin Backpacker, I thought it was one of the most ridiculous looking inventions. And I tried it a few times and I didn't really think it was anything too great. But being that Ive been on the road for the past two years or so, this instrument has really come in handy during those impulsive moments when an idea hits. So overall don't be a snob, and don't go by prices. I have a great no name acoustic guitar that a friend sold me years ago for 50 bucks, and its my main recording guitar...

In general, anything made by Ibanez(other than a tube screamer) is junk. I am a little biased because I know a guy who loves his but I think they sound like garbage. You can get one tone from them and thats it.

I agree with Joseph, Fender is the mutts nuts.
I own Squire Tele, absolute crap in sound and feel.

Personally i hate telecasters
I'm not entirely sure why
Dont like the shape, the sound, the kind of music they're used for or the kind of people who use them (the last two are stereotypical)

I'd have to say Daisy Rock guitars, i don't think any self-respecting man or woman would dawn one of these guitars. I don't know how they play and don't even care, if i saw a man in a guitar store trying one of em out, i don't know what i'd do. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/ex/shop/home/010613002254063026050125783513?pid=513060

Worst guitar I ever held in my hands is a Squier strat. I think it's an awful guitar.

The squire strat is crap. If you want the best buy an original my strat is perfection personified (pity I am not)

One thing that i've noticed cars and guitars have in common... everyone either wants a brand new one or a classic. Think about all the crappy Kia's on the road that people buy brand new; for the 9 grand you fork over for a new one, you could buy a late 80's/early 90's Mercedes or BMW, and though they aren't as prestigious or whatever as a brand new one, they still have leather intereor, all those neat little bells and whistles, and they'll always be nicer, more reliable, and even more econmical than a Kia. Some people just, for whatever reason, need something new.
The same goes for a Squier Strat; if you want one that you can actually play decently, you're gonna pay about $200. You can go to a mom and pop guitar store and probably pick up a REAL Fender strat, used, maybe a little dinged but still WAY better, for the exact same price. Sure, it'll be Mexican, but big deal, as long as it gets the job done...
In the defense of the higher-end Squiers (oxymoron?), the Standard Strat and Tele's aren't really all that bad. Most of the Standard Tele's I've played have higher output than the American Tele's I've played. However, their absolute bottom-line, the Affinity series (which i'm assuming are the ones we're all referring to, the ones that list at $150 and are perpetually on sale for $119 or $99), are absolutely horrible, no matter how you look at it.

I also detest squiers
I used to detest all of them, but my friend persuaded me they were good, and i agreed, as his was half decent. Since then some of my friends have just started playing and have affinities, and these really are the pits. OK, theyre good for beginners, but beginners canstart on anything,. i started on a nylon string, but my first electric was a mexico strat, and its still better than some peoples whove been plaing for years. Now they really are good value. I say squiers are good for beginners, but what i really hate is people who swear by them and even do gigs with them. Incidentally, the original friend isn't that bad and now has a Fernandes 1985 revolver, but like me, says squiers are good for beginners.

Maybe not the worst, but to me, anyway, the most frustrating. The two-pickup Gibson SG. (I can hear the flying bricks whistling through the air already!)
The sound is wonderful, but because the neck pickup is so close to the double cutaway, the neck joint is seriously weak. This thing flexes so much that its hard to tune. Any change in tension on one string makes the other 5 wander off. If you get excited, and pull a bit on the neck as you play, the whole thing can change pitch by a semitone! ('puts a whole new meaning on the phrase 'bending the strings' )

Hmmm,no mention of Danelectro so far.
Hardboard (Masonite) body, single coils with REAL lipstick tube covers, no truss rod and the damn things are making a comeback (at least here in the UK)!
At least, it had the capacity to keep you warm on a cold winter's night, if you had an open fire.

Ihave nothing against The Fender Stratocaster, in more ways than one its the ideal instrument for me. Its the imitation products that I can't stand...
