Hey everyone i've been trying to find out if you have a two channel amp, do you ned a distortion pedal? i know that this question might soud stupid, but i just wanna know.
thank yall rock on!!
Well, a 2 channel amp usually has a clean channel and a distorted channel.
A distortion pedal is not needed, unless you don't like the tone of your amps distorted channel. Then you might want to consider using a distortion pedal with the clean channel of your amp.

Yeah pedals are for capturing a different tone then you have with just your amp. There are good ones out there and if you buy one and don't like it there is usually someone who will take it off your hands.

Check out EBAY for some good deals and look on harmony central's website for reviews of different pedals. ;)

then again some people (me) put an overdrive pedal in front of a distorted channel.

You're not alone!! I use a Keeley DS1 Ultra infront of my distortion channel; I use a bit of distortion from both, and it creates a sound much better than what comes from the distortion channel alone.

I always get too much feedback so I just go into the clean channel.

Yeah, I kick in my overdrive pedal over my amp's overdrive channel for leads...
Gives it a little boost...

i like the shape better- my amp has a pretty harsh distortion so i put a nice smooth overdrive to round things out and warm it up even more.
sounds good. :D

I would say get a pedal with the tone you want and play it into the clean channel. I play my RAT through the clean channel and it sounds awesome, but if you play it through the distorted it sounds way weaker and less clear/crisp tone. Of course this may be different with an overdrive pedal.
