I need help!!

when i try to write a song i have tried to make the music first and then the lyrics and it just doesnt work for me but i have alson tried to make the lyrics then music and that doesnt work either i need some advice on how i can make it better for me to write songs cause im wanting to start a band but no one can write songs and i have really good ideas on how to write them but i can't but it both together i need some help on how i can make both of these go together.....

My songs just arent workin very well could it be that what i write and what i play are different music like real punk music trying to go with a love song or something..

Nothing wrong with mixing genres. Why can't a love song be done in a punk style? It's not obvious and that's why if you can make it work then it lifts it above a straight love song and above a straight punk song.

Stick with it, experiment :D

i guess it boils down to wat tone u wud wanna start the song with...and then experiment by either playing a minor or a major scale, depending on how u wud like it to sound like...improvise the scales and ull get an idea...

okay, im guessing when your writing something you kind of have a tune in your head. (if not, that could be your problem :p )

what i do is i get an idea. and then as things start rattling around and gradually start crankin, i get the lyric, and can sort of hear a tune with it. just write the lyrics along with the tune. after you got the lyrics down, transpose the tune in your head to your guitar :D

thats an easy way.
