Man, you don't put these two against one another! But I'd say Led Zep.

Christoph
06-10-2001, 11:37 PM
Easily Led Zeppelin. Their music has a lot more substance.

Bardsley
06-11-2001, 04:36 AM
AC/DC are good, but...
Is there really a competition?
Zep.

Mr. Vai
06-11-2001, 10:18 AM
trunks thats you, liar,

Zepp all the way

Zeppelin
06-11-2001, 11:36 AM
yeah you can't do this man.. both of them rocks!!
but i choose zeppelin

zepo
06-11-2001, 12:06 PM
The Hammer of the Gods ( for you people that aren't familiar with that, my pick Led Zeppelin.)

Joseph
06-11-2001, 01:27 PM
Well, its safe to say that both Pink Floyd and The Doors both had something different to offer the table.

Its obvious why both of these bands reached such high levels of success and that was because of musical proficiency. When it comes to these bands, each member is irreplacable, and thats what makes a great and memorable band. But With The Doors it seemed as if they were lacking in the creativity department toward the end, don't get me wrong, these guys released one good solid record after another, but still nothing can top their first record. But with Floyd, these guys released one interesting record after another, these guys really had us by our throats, begging for more. Although its very hard to top the unique structure in Jimmy Morrisons lyrics, Ide have to say that Pink Floyd wins this battle. Their music is just so pure, and its the type of stuff that carries on for generations. These guys didn't care about image, for them music was their primary force.

I think what Joseph was trying to say was who gives a **** anyway, nobody's ever going to agree on any of this stuff, how about Britney and me nude mud wrestling. That would be a fascinating contest. I'm sure I could make it last 15 rounds, oh alright 25.

Led Zeppelin
06-11-2001, 04:49 PM
Alright a bit late there Joseph.

Zeppelin win

Round #3:

Guns N' Roses vs. Metallica

space ace
06-11-2001, 06:28 PM
I think AC/DC are an embarassment to the 70's-80's hard rock scene. Angus's legs move more than his fingers do.

Led Zeppelin all the way.

Joseph
06-11-2001, 07:12 PM
When you it comes to hard working musicians, it doesn't get any better than Metallica, these guys are unbelievable, they have overcome so many different obstacles in the past, but still they've managed to carry on and continue making the type of music that best satisfies their impulses. Despite the whole napster saga, you guys can't deny that for a long car ride Metallica is #1 on your list (or at least pretty close), their songs are awesome, and Kirk Hammett continues to impress me as the years progress. [/i]

As for Guns N Roses, without Slash, this band lacks the creativity and the much needed fluidity that makes this band worthwhile.

Metallica all the way!!!!

-Joseph

zepp_rules
06-11-2001, 08:03 PM
Guns N' Roses definately. They've done so much to revive hard rock from those "glam" bands.

Christoph
06-11-2001, 10:11 PM
Metallica.

stratman42
06-12-2001, 02:15 PM
I prefer gnr's early stuff with the real band, but now its just axl i have to say

Metallica

space ace
06-12-2001, 04:56 PM
Metallica are the most over-rated band of all time Guns'n'roses are a million and a half times better.

I vote Guns'n'Roses

Led Zeppelin
06-13-2001, 03:52 PM
Alright Metallica just.

Round #4

Deep Purple vs. The Who

zepp_rules
06-13-2001, 05:45 PM
while deep purple is good, the who have lasted longer and have a lot more substance. my vote is: the who

space ace
06-13-2001, 06:44 PM
As much as Deep Purple rock I have to go with The Who just because they were one of few bands to save rock and roll from that rut in the earily-mid sixties.

The Who.

PeptoB
06-13-2001, 07:17 PM
The Who.
Listen to any of their songs and you'll agree with me.

Zeppelin
06-14-2001, 02:14 PM
Deep Purple
to compare blackmore and townshend is like comparing me and jimmy page..
you people dont know what you are talking about... deep purple (in the early 70's) were much more than the smoke on the water band... they made a long way from their progressive beginning till their heavier and funkier albums like burn and they were good at it all.

stratman42
06-14-2001, 02:48 PM
Deep Purple

I prefer blackmore as a guitarist

Led Zeppelin
06-15-2001, 04:35 PM
The Who win 3-2

Round 5

Thin Lizzy vs Lynyrd Skynyrd

zepp_rules

Round #6

The Beatles vs The Rolling Stones

Zeppelin
06-17-2001, 05:01 AM

Christoph
06-17-2001, 12:54 PM
You guys must all be pretty old, because of the last three or so competitions, I haven't had a clue about who the bands were or what their songs were.

Not to say that I haven't heard their songs, because I'm sure I have. If I heard a Beetles song or a Deep Purple song I wouldn't be able to say, "Hey, that's the Beetles . . ." and so forth.

Zeppelin
06-17-2001, 01:14 PM
How can it be that you dont know the beatles???
and deep purple is the band that did smoke on the water
offocrse they are much more than the "smoke on the water band" but this is their most famous song

Led Zeppelin
06-17-2001, 05:09 PM
Alright I expected the Beatles to win there but the Stones won.

Round #7

Nirvana vs Neil Young & Crazy Horse

Kings of grunge against the creator of grunge(and his band)

space ace
06-17-2001, 08:49 PM

Oh my god. You couldn't tell a Beatle song if you heard it. I bet you didn't even know that Thin Lizzy wrote "The Boys are Back in Town" you probably thought ****in' Everclear did.

Christoph
06-17-2001, 10:34 PM
I'd actually never even heard of "Thin Lizzy" until Zep had them in his contest.

And until today, when someone told me otherwise, I thought that Aerosmith wrote Come Together.

I guess old crap music just isn't everyone's cup 'o tea.

Christoph
06-17-2001, 10:37 PM
By the way, I've never heard of "Crazy Horse" either, so chalk one up for Nirvana . . .

BluesShredder
06-18-2001, 03:32 AM
Neil Young & Crazy Horse

Crazy Horse

Led Zeppelin
06-18-2001, 04:57 PM

Post-Sabath Ozzy.

Black Sabath broke new ground with their first album, but after that they just kept re-hashing sameoldsameold.

Black Sabath became B.S.

Christoph
06-19-2001, 12:24 AM
Hahaha. Good one.

Yup, after that first album their music was crap at best.

Mr. Vai
06-19-2001, 03:28 AM

Led Zeppelin
06-19-2001, 04:52 PM

Jimi Hendrix

I've gotta give top spot to the 'Zep because of the depth and diversity of their material.

Pink Floyd next, for quality and longevity.

Jimi Hendrix died too damn young, plain and simple. If he was still with us, he might still be showing us how its done, but the fact is, we just can't know!
