Watts arn't too much of an issue...50 and 100 watts is tough to discern by ear.
I don't know your price range so i'll post the best combos for each one(I'll assume you want a 2x12 combo...plenty of power to push air).

Dude, I just got a randall rg75 today and it has the most distortion of anything I've ever played. The distortion is thick too. Mesaboogie sounding. This amp is all out metal all the way but the clean can give a gig-worthy sound with a nice neck pickup like a seyour duncan jazz. I love this amp. 75 watts. 1x12 ( extremely loud ). Celestion 70/80 speaker. 100 watts into 4 ohm if you want to hook it to a 4x12. I am serious about the metal though, this thing has 2 gain stages on the overdrive and stage 1 is supposed to be classic british gain, but it's just a mellow classic/hard rock sound. Gain 2 is really all I use, I swear it is just like the "black album" - metallica. Fully engaged the gain is still very pleasing and not so muddy. Dimebag-ish.
oh by the way, I paid 200 used but it runs about $375 new. DONT by the Musicians friend version it is pure crap and only musicians friend carries it.
