Have ya tried cooledit.com??

Shell out the money and support the people who have spent the time and the resources to make the product.

Internet tapedeck 1,02
This recorder is freeware and works great, you can find it on download.com

Description
Internet TapeDeck is designed to be a comprehensive yet easy-to-use software-based digital audio recording system. Now you can experience the magic of multitrack recording. Internet TapeDeck emulates the basic functionality of a $300 to $1,000 hardware-based four- or eight-track cassette recorder. Standard audio effects that ship for free with Internet TapeDeck include a basic Reverb and three-band EQ (equalization). Additional audio effects will be available for purchase and download.

There's an nifty shareware program for Mac I've been using recently called Sound Sculptor. It's up to 8 tracks, all kinds of editing features etc...best of all it works on old 68k machines.

go to http://www.protools.com
you'll only be able to work with about 4 tracks, but it's fully funcional and better than Cakewalk and most of the regular recording software.

Only the system requirements are very high.
