what is the best dimarzio pickup

I play progressive metal and rock and i am basically sold on dimarzio pickups due to my guitar idols vai and satch; could someone tell me what a "FRED" is and is it a great pickup; also what would give a deluxe powerhouse strat a hotter sound or a slight metal edge, because i need something besides my IBANEZ S370 to play when i play gigs please help...THANX

My brother in law has a Parker Fly deluxe with a DiMarzio Super Distortion in the bridge. I've never played it, but he raved about it's greatness for like an hour after he first soldered it in, and i've heard a few demos he's done since getting it (he's pro), and well, it really does kick ass. It screams, has excessively high output, and can get a really good low growl, too, i think he uses a Boss MT-2 MetalZone with it. I'm getting one of those pickups as soon as I have $60.

How do you like that powerhouse strat? I'm looking for a fatstrat-style guitar, and would appreciate any input on it.

the powerhouse deluxe is a guitar with great tone I loved it ever since i got it its really a good price too

DiMarzio is really a kickass pickup and the best in its line.No other pickups i find is as good it.It give a great sustain and is very,,,,VERY powerful........ô¡ô
