Tune your low E string down to a D.

To tune to drop D, just tune the low E string down one step (2 frets). In other words, hold the low E string down on the 7th fret and tune it down until it's the same as the open A string (second string down).

and in my terms, make the 7th fret of the low e match the a string.

Remember to alter the string length for the new tuning - to keep the physics correct.

There's a video showing how to do it here:

That would be adjusting the intonation.

so i just hold on to the 7th fret of the 6th string? and compare it to the A String? and do the rest like regular tuneing, (going down a string to the 7th fret each time) wouldnt that make a higher tone?

cause im trying to do 96 quite bitter beings by CKY, and a friend told me i have to drop d tune, to make it sound alike, is that true?
if its not, please tell me what to do.
-if this sounds noobish, i'm sry, im new :) -

Only the 6th string will be held down on the 7th fret and tuned down. The rest of the strings are tuned normally.
